Industrial electrification: growing within the grid connection you have.

From electrifying gas-fired heat to adding e-trucks—everything demands more power from the exact same cable. How heavy industry electrifies rapidly without waiting for grid operators to dig new trenches.
For industrial companies, everything arrives at once: processes moving from gas to electric, customers asking for lower emissions, a fleet that needs to plug in. Every step raises power demand — and the grid in industrial areas is exactly where it is most congested.
The reflex is to apply for a heavier connection. Logical on paper, in practice often a dead end: lead times are long, and in many places there is simply no capacity left to hand out. Make your electrification dependent on that, and you put your own pace on hold.
The profile is your friend
Industrial consumption profiles are erratic — and that is good news. Furnaces, compressors, cooling and charging rarely all peak at the same time, and part of the processes can shift without touching production. Exactly that non-simultaneity holds the room to grow within the existing connection.
The key is control at process level: knowing which load can shift and when, what is sacred (production first, always), and a system that makes that trade-off every minute. A battery reinforces the whole: it catches the peaks that cannot shift and earns its money on the energy market outside the peaks.
The order for an electrification plan
- Map the actual profile: peaks, simultaneity and controllability per process.
- Model electrification steps against that profile: what already fits within the connection with control in place?
- Deploy storage for what remains — sized to fit, not on gut feeling.
- Phase it: every step that fits within the connection does not have to wait for grid reinforcement.
Operational security first
Electrifying must never mean your production depends on an algorithm having a bad day. So the boundaries are hard: critical processes always take priority, and all control stays within limits you define. The system optimizes within the lines — you draw the lines.
