Predictive maintenance: catching hardware faults in the data.

2 min readJuly 2026

An inverter rarely fails without warning; the data shows it coming. How predictive maintenance works, and why an automated work order is far more valuable than a red dashboard light.

Every energy installation continuously reports on its own health: yield per string, temperature, vibrations, deviations between identical units. Nearly every fault casts its shadow ahead in that data — an inverter quietly delivering less, a cooling compressor kicking in more often, a charging point with faltering sessions.

Reactive maintenance only notices once something has stopped. Periodic maintenance looks at the calendar instead of at the installation. Predictive maintenance looks at the behavior itself: flag the deviation, predict the problem, and step in before the failure.

From alarm to work order — automatically

An alarm that lands in a mailbox is not yet action. The difference is made in the step after: the system turns the deviation directly into a work order — with location, asset, fault description and priority — and assigns it to your own technician or the right subcontractor.

Maintenance then becomes a closed loop: detection, diagnosis, assignment, follow-up and verification in one system. SLA agreements and claims are tracked per party, and afterwards it is demonstrable who did what, and when.

What it gets you

  • Less downtime: problems get fixed before they cost production or yield.
  • Targeted deployment: technicians head out on a concrete fault description, not on a hunch.
  • Control over contracts: turnaround times and agreements per maintenance party are measurable and demonstrable.

Even without your own maintenance team

Predictive maintenance does not require an in-house technical team. The system directs your existing parties — and if you would rather outsource it completely, you place the management with a single partner. The data is already there; what matters is that someone watches it who also acts on it.
